This slow cooker BBQ chicken is easy to prepare, tender, and simmered to perfection with bold BBQ flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken breasts
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Buns for serving
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
- Add the diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is cooked through.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks and mix it with the sauce.
- Serve on buns with pickles, slaw, or extra sauce as desired.
Notes
Trim extra fat from the chicken for a cleaner sauce. Use low sodium BBQ sauce if desired. For rich butter flavor, add a bit of butter at the end.
