Description

Crispy Hot Honey Feta Chicken is a bold, mouthwatering dish combining golden pan-fried chicken breasts, crumbled feta, and a sweet-and-spicy hot honey drizzle. It’s an easy yet impressive recipe packed with flavor and texture—perfect for dinner any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced horizontally to make 4 cutlets)

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 35g (1/4 cup) plain flour

  • 65g (1 cup) Panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • Vegetable oil, for frying (6–8 tbsp)

For the Topping:

  • 200g (7 oz) feta cheese, crumbled

For the Hot Honey:

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 3/4 tsp chili flakes

  • 1 1/2 tsp hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s or Cholula)

Instructions

  • Make the Hot Honey:
In a small bowl, combine honey, chili flakes, and hot sauce. Warm gently in the microwave or over the stove. Let it cool to infuse.

  • Prep the Chicken:
Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally. Season with the dry spices.

  • Bread the Chicken:

    • Set up three bowls: flour + half the spices, beaten eggs, and Panko + remaining spices.

    • Dredge each chicken cutlet in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Press to adhere well.

  • Cook the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.

    • Fry chicken for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked.

    • Transfer to a wire rack.

  • Add the Feta:

    • Crumble feta over each piece of chicken.

    • Place under the broiler/grill until the feta softens and browns slightly (2–3 minutes).

  • Finish and Serve:

    • Drizzle generously with the hot honey.

    • Serve hot with sides of choice.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought hot honey if preferred.

  • Bake instead of fry for a lighter version: toast breadcrumbs beforehand and bake at 220°C/430°F for 18–20 minutes, flipping once.

  • Make hot honey ahead and refrigerate up to 7 days.

  • Not a fan of feta? Try goat cheese or queso fresco (texture may vary).
