Crispy Hot Honey Feta Chicken is a bold, mouthwatering dish combining golden pan-fried chicken breasts, crumbled feta, and a sweet-and-spicy hot honey drizzle. It’s an easy yet impressive recipe packed with flavor and texture—perfect for dinner any night of the week.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced horizontally to make 4 cutlets)
2 eggs, beaten
35g (1/4 cup) plain flour
65g (1 cup) Panko breadcrumbs
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying (6–8 tbsp)
For the Topping:
200g (7 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
For the Hot Honey:
1/3 cup honey
3/4 tsp chili flakes
1 1/2 tsp hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s or Cholula)
Instructions
Make the Hot Honey:
In a small bowl, combine honey, chili flakes, and hot sauce. Warm gently in the microwave or over the stove. Let it cool to infuse.Prep the Chicken:
Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally. Season with the dry spices.Bread the Chicken:
Set up three bowls: flour + half the spices, beaten eggs, and Panko + remaining spices.
Dredge each chicken cutlet in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Press to adhere well.
Cook the Chicken:
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Fry chicken for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked.
Transfer to a wire rack.
Add the Feta:
Crumble feta over each piece of chicken.
Place under the broiler/grill until the feta softens and browns slightly (2–3 minutes).
Finish and Serve:
Drizzle generously with the hot honey.
Serve hot with sides of choice.
Notes
You can use store-bought hot honey if preferred.
Bake instead of fry for a lighter version: toast breadcrumbs beforehand and bake at 220°C/430°F for 18–20 minutes, flipping once.
Make hot honey ahead and refrigerate up to 7 days.
Not a fan of feta? Try goat cheese or queso fresco (texture may vary).
