Description
Deliciously crispy French fries that provide the perfect balance of comfort and satisfaction, ideal for fall gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 3 cups of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds texture.
- Cut each potato into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Soak the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the dried potato sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper while the fries are hot and toss gently.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, fry in batches and maintain oil temperature for optimum crispiness. Consider using russet potatoes for the best texture.
