Description

Deliciously crispy French fries that provide the perfect balance of comfort and satisfaction, ideal for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 3 cups of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds texture.
  2. Cut each potato into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Soak the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Drain and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully add the dried potato sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  8. Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper while the fries are hot and toss gently.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, fry in batches and maintain oil temperature for optimum crispiness. Consider using russet potatoes for the best texture.
