Description

A cozy Chicken Kofta dish paired with a tangy, creamy garlic yogurt sauce, perfect for fall entertaining or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt (Greek-style for thicker sauce)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill or mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine ground chicken, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Mix gently until ingredients are just combined.
  3. Wet your hands slightly and shape the mixture into small logs or oval patties, about 8–10 pieces.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add kofta in a single layer and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C).
  6. Whisk yogurt, crushed garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  7. Stir in fresh dill or mint if using and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
  8. Spoon sauce onto a platter, arrange hot kofta on top, and garnish with extra herbs and a drizzle of olive oil.

Notes

Use cold hands or wet them when shaping kofta to prevent sticking. Let the yogurt sauce rest for at least 10 minutes for optimal flavor.
