Description
A cozy Chicken Kofta dish paired with a tangy, creamy garlic yogurt sauce, perfect for fall entertaining or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt (Greek-style for thicker sauce)
- 2–3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill or mint (optional)
Instructions
- Combine ground chicken, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Mix gently until ingredients are just combined.
- Wet your hands slightly and shape the mixture into small logs or oval patties, about 8–10 pieces.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add kofta in a single layer and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C).
- Whisk yogurt, crushed garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
- Stir in fresh dill or mint if using and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
- Spoon sauce onto a platter, arrange hot kofta on top, and garnish with extra herbs and a drizzle of olive oil.
Notes
Use cold hands or wet them when shaping kofta to prevent sticking. Let the yogurt sauce rest for at least 10 minutes for optimal flavor.
