Description
A comforting one-dish meal that layers seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and crispy fries, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, seasoned
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (16 oz) bag frozen crinkle-cut French fries
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Optional: pickles, diced tomatoes, or chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion until cooked through and fragrant; drain excess fat. Stir in garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Spread half of the fries across the bottom of the prepared dish. Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the fries. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar over the meat. Top with remaining fries.
- Whisk together milk and eggs, then gently pour over the layered fries and beef so it soaks through.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake for 10–15 minutes more until fries are golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Let sit for 5–10 minutes before cutting. Garnish with pickles or parsley if desired.
Notes
Use even-sized fries for uniform cooking; brown the meat ahead of time for easy assembly later.
