Description

A comforting one-dish meal that layers seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and crispy fries, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, seasoned
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16 oz) bag frozen crinkle-cut French fries
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Optional: pickles, diced tomatoes, or chopped parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion until cooked through and fragrant; drain excess fat. Stir in garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Spread half of the fries across the bottom of the prepared dish. Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the fries. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar over the meat. Top with remaining fries.
  4. Whisk together milk and eggs, then gently pour over the layered fries and beef so it soaks through.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake for 10–15 minutes more until fries are golden and cheese is bubbly.
  6. Let sit for 5–10 minutes before cutting. Garnish with pickles or parsley if desired.

Notes

Use even-sized fries for uniform cooking; brown the meat ahead of time for easy assembly later.
