Description
A cozy and delicious bread pudding made in the air fryer, perfect for utilizing leftover stale bread during the autumn months.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of stale bread (French or challah)
- 2 cups of milk (or a milk alternative)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup of raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- Cooking spray or oil for greasing the air fryer basket
Instructions
- Prepare the bread by cutting it into bite-sized cubes.
- Make the custard by whisking together eggs, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl.
- Combine the bread cubes with the custard mixture, gently folding until absorbed, and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Add raisins or chocolate chips if desired.
- Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) and grease the basket.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish that fits inside the air fryer.
- Air Fry for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or with ice cream.
Notes
Stale bread works best for texture. For variations, consider adding nuts or fruits.
