Description

A cozy and delicious bread pudding made in the air fryer, perfect for utilizing leftover stale bread during the autumn months.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of stale bread (French or challah)
  • 2 cups of milk (or a milk alternative)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing the air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by cutting it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Make the custard by whisking together eggs, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the bread cubes with the custard mixture, gently folding until absorbed, and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add raisins or chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) and grease the basket.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish that fits inside the air fryer.
  7. Air Fry for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or with ice cream.

Notes

Stale bread works best for texture. For variations, consider adding nuts or fruits.
