Description

Black Cat Waffles with Whipped Cream are a festive Halloween twist on classic chocolate waffles—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, topped with fluffy whipped cream and decorated with candy eyes, banana ears, and chocolate accents. Fun, spooky, and perfect for fall mornings or Halloween brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ cups milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
  • Banana or apple slices (for ears)
  • Candy eyes
  • Chocolate chips or syrup (for whiskers/nose)
  • Berries (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs, then add milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix into dry ingredients until smooth.
  3. Preheat and lightly grease waffle iron. Pour in batter and cook until crisp, 3–5 minutes per waffle.
  4. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  5. Decorate waffles: add banana/apple slices for ears, candy eyes, and whipped cream for cheeks or fur.
  6. Finish with chocolate chips or syrup for whiskers/nose. Serve warm.

Notes

For crispier waffles, let them rest in a warm oven after cooking. Cocoa gives the waffles their natural dark color—no food dye needed. Kids love helping with decorating!
