Description

A comforting and nutritious fall dish featuring savory beef liver and sweet caramelized onions.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of beef liver, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil or ghee
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (or additional olive oil/ghee)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the liver: Rinse the beef liver under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. Onion caramelization: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil or ghee over medium heat and add the sliced onions.
  3. Season lightly with salt and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Sauté the liver: In the same skillet, move the onions to the side and add the remaining tablespoon of oil or ghee, then add the sliced beef liver.
  5. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  6. Combine and serve: Once cooked, mix the liver with the caramelized onions and serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Do not overcook the liver for best texture. Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
