Description
A quick and flavorful salmon recipe that brings cozy fall comfort to the table without hours in the kitchen.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin on or off
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2–3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1–2 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Zest and juice of 1 lime
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil for searing (like vegetable or canola)
- Optional garnish: sliced scallions, sesame seeds, lime wedges
Instructions
- Prep the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, hot sauce, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and lime juice until smooth.
- Season the salmon: Pat fillets dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat the pan: Warm a nonstick or well-seasoned cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add the neutral oil.
- Sear the salmon: Place the salmon skin-side up in the hot pan. Sear for 3–4 minutes without moving, then flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until just cooked through.
- Finish with sauce: Reduce heat to low, spoon the bang bang sauce over each fillet, and let it warm through for 30–60 seconds.
- Serve: Plate the salmon and finish with scallions, sesame seeds, and a lime wedge.
Notes
For best results, bring the salmon to room temperature before cooking and don’t overcrowd the pan. Adjust sauce heat and sweetness to taste.
