Description
Enjoy warm, fluffy baked sweet potatoes made in an air fryer, perfect for the fall season.
Ingredients
- 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes (about 6-8 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or coconut oil for a sweeter hint)
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- Optional toppings: Cinnamon and nutmeg, Maple syrup, Chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts), Marshmallows (ensure they’re halal-certified), Butter or a butter substitute (like vegan butter)
Instructions
- Prep Your Sweet Potatoes: Start by washing and scrubbing the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water. This removes any dirt or residue from the skin, ensuring a clean bite. Pat dry with a paper towel.
- Poke and Oil: Using a fork, poke several holes all over each sweet potato (about 6-8 per potato). This allows steam to escape during cooking. Next, rub the outside of each potato with olive oil to help create a crispy skin, and sprinkle with sea salt for added flavor.
- Air Fry: Place the sweet potatoes in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re not overcrowded. Set your air fryer to preheat at 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Then, arrange sweet potatoes in the basket and cook for about 25-30 minutes. Flip them halfway through cooking for that evenly baked texture.
- Check for Doneness: After 25 minutes, insert a fork or knife into the thickest part of one of the potatoes. It should slide in easily. If they aren’t quite tender yet, give them another 5 minutes in the air fryer.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once done, carefully remove the sweet potatoes (they’ll be hot!) and slice them open. Fluff the insides with a fork and add any toppings you desire. A drizzle of maple syrup, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a pat of butter are perfect additions.
Notes
Choose fresh sweet potatoes and avoid overcrowding the air fryer for the best results. Adjust cooking time as needed based on potato size.
