Description
A warm, gooey sandwich made in an air fryer that’s perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy snack.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough or whole grain)
- 1 tablespoon of softened butter (or a plant-based alternative)
- 1 cup of grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite melting cheese)
- 1/2 cup of cooked pumpkin puree (canned works well)
- 1 teaspoon of dried sage or thyme (fresh herbs work beautifully)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Sliced turkey or ham for added protein
- Optional: A sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine the cooked pumpkin puree, dried herbs, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Add cinnamon if desired and stir until well blended.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the pumpkin mixture on the unbuttered side of one slice, followed by grated cheese and turkey or ham if using.
- Top it with a final sprinkle of cheese and place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
- Place the sandwich gently in the air fryer basket and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Remove once golden brown, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve.
Notes
Use thick slices of bread for best results and feel free to experiment with different cheese varieties.
