Description

A warm, gooey sandwich made in an air fryer that’s perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough or whole grain)
  • 1 tablespoon of softened butter (or a plant-based alternative)
  • 1 cup of grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1/2 cup of cooked pumpkin puree (canned works well)
  • 1 teaspoon of dried sage or thyme (fresh herbs work beautifully)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Sliced turkey or ham for added protein
  • Optional: A sprinkle of cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Combine the cooked pumpkin puree, dried herbs, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Add cinnamon if desired and stir until well blended.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer the pumpkin mixture on the unbuttered side of one slice, followed by grated cheese and turkey or ham if using.
  4. Top it with a final sprinkle of cheese and place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
  6. Place the sandwich gently in the air fryer basket and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Remove once golden brown, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve.

Notes

Use thick slices of bread for best results and feel free to experiment with different cheese varieties.
