Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (about 3-5 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or halal alternative
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
- 1 lemon, quartered
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the chicken from its packaging. Pat it dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin.
- Mix the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme in a small bowl. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get under the skin for maximum flavor.
- Take the quartered lemon and place it inside the cavity of the chicken to add flavor and moisture.
- Preheat your Air Fryer to 360°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Carefully place the seasoned chicken breast side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, flip the chicken breast side up and continue cooking for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Carve the chicken and serve with your favorite sides like roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes.
Notes
For extra crispy skin, increase the temperature to 400°F during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
