Description
A delightful Air Fryer Sesame Chicken Breast recipe that’s easy to make and packed with flavor, perfect for cozy fall evenings.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Olive oil spray
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, minced ginger, and rice vinegar. Add the chicken breasts to the marinated bowl, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. For best results, marinate overnight!
- Prepare the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380ยฐF (190ยฐC) for about 5 minutes. While itโs heating, remove the chicken from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Coat with Cornstarch: Sprinkle the cornstarch evenly over the chicken, ensuring that each piece is well coated. This step is crucial for achieving a crispy exterior.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the chicken in the basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the basket. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ยฐF (74ยฐC) and is golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove the chicken from the air fryer and sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired. Serve hot with a side of steamed vegetables or over rice for a complete meal.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate overnight. Don’t skip the cornstarch for a crispy texture.
