Description
A delightful combination of savory sausage and earthy mushrooms, perfect for a cozy fall gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large button mushrooms (cleaned and stems removed)
- 8 ounces Italian sausage (or beef sausage if preferred)
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 cup cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if necessary)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Prepare the Mushrooms: Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Clean the mushrooms by wiping them gently with a damp cloth. Carefully remove the stems and set the caps aside.
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes). Once cooked, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until they’re fragrant and translucent.
- Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sautéed onions and garlic, softened cream cheese, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.
- Stuff the Mushrooms: Generously fill each mushroom cap with the sausage mixture, ensuring to pile it on top.
- Air Fry the Mushrooms: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the stuffed mushrooms in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t touching. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the mushrooms are tender.
- Serve Warm: Once done, remove the mushrooms from the air fryer, let them cool for a moment, and then serve warm.
Notes
Choose large button mushrooms for best results and consider using gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
