Ingredients

  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Flour for dusting
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or a plant-based milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Edible blossoms (like pansies or violets) for garnish
  • Optional: A sprinkle of cinnamon or grated nutmeg


Instructions

  1. Begin by thawing the puff pastry overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once ready, lightly flour your work surface.
  2. Unfold the puff pastry onto the floured surface. Roll it out gently to about 1/4 inch thick with a rolling pin.
  3. Using a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters, cut out the donuts. You can also use a glass to cut smaller circles for the donut holes.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Brush each donut gently with the beaten egg to give them a golden color once baked.
  6. Place the donuts in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them. Fry for about 6-8 minutes, or until they’re puffed and golden brown.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and add more milk if it’s too thick.
