Description
Delightful puff pastry bites filled with seasonal fruit and cream cheese, perfect for a cozy fall breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 cup of chopped seasonal fruit (such as apples or pears)
- ½ cup of cream cheese (softened)
- 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients. Start by ensuring your puff pastry is fully thawed. This usually takes about 30 minutes at room temperature. Meanwhile, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Make the filling by combining softened cream cheese, honey or maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt in a medium bowl. Mix until everything is well incorporated. Gently fold in the chopped seasonal fruit.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a floured surface to smooth out creases. Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles.
- Assemble the bites by placing a tablespoon of the fruit and cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square and folding over the corners to create a pocket.
- Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.
- Air fry the pastries in the basket at 350°F for about 12-15 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and enjoy warm!
Notes
Keep puff pastry cold for best results. Don’t overfill the pastries, and consider gluten-free options if needed.
