A cozy fall treat that’s cheesy, melty, and endlessly customizable, perfect for chilly evenings or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, or gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (or a dairy-free cheese alternative)
- 1/4 cup of pepperoni slices (or a halal meat alternative)
- 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
- A pinch of salt and pepper, to taste
- Butter (for spreading on the bread)
- Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
- Extra pizza sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Assemble the toastie: Spread pizza sauce on one slice of bread, sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese, layer the pepperoni and Italian seasoning, add remaining mozzarella, and top with the other slice of bread.
- Butter the bread: Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of both slices.
- Air fry the toastie: Place in the air fryer basket and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve and enjoy: Let cool for a minute, cut in half, garnish with fresh basil, and serve with extra pizza sauce on the side.
Notes
To ensure perfect results, use thicker bread, avoid overstuffing, and consider using fresh ingredients for enhanced flavor.
