- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes.
- Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and mustard powder. Stir until heated through but not boiling.
- Gradually add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked macaroni in the pot. Stir until the pasta is well coated with the cheese mixture.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the mixture and mix in the salt to taste.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into an air fryer-safe dish. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top for that perfect crunchy finish.
- Carefully place the dish into the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Remove the dish from the air fryer, let it cool for a couple of minutes, and serve warm. Enjoy every cheesy bite!
Notes
Don’t overcook the pasta and use freshly shredded cheese for best results.
