Description
Enjoy crispy, juicy Air Fryer Fried Chicken that captures the warmth of fall with less oil, making it a healthier comfort food option.
Ingredients
- 4 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, or breasts)
- 1 cup buttermilk (or a mixture of milk and lemon juice for a homemade version)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray (optional for extra crispiness)
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and half of the salt (½ teaspoon). Place the chicken pieces in the buttermilk mixture, making sure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Prep the Coating: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, remaining salt (½ teaspoon), and black pepper.
- Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the fridge and shake off any excess buttermilk. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
- Preheat Your Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the chicken pieces in a single layer and cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider double coating the chicken. Adjust spices to taste.
