Description
A cozy fall favorite dish that recreates the warmth of a pub with less oil and more crispy texture, perfect for chilly evenings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound white fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (gluten-free option available)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
- 2 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Optional: favorite seasoning blend (such as paprika or garlic powder)
Instructions
- Prepare the chips: Wash and peel the potatoes and cut them into thick chips or wedges. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry, then toss with olive oil, salt, and any preferred seasonings.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Cook the chips: Place the seasoned chips in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Prepare the fish: Set up a breading station with one bowl for whisked egg and milk, and another for the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dip each fillet in flour, then egg wash, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Cook the fish: After the chips are done, remove and keep warm in a low oven. Place the breaded fish fillets in the air fryer basket and cook at 390°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite tartar sauce.
