Description

A vibrant and delicious dish featuring crispy beef strips coated in a sweet and spicy glaze, perfect for cozy fall evenings.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef strips
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 red chilies, chopped
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef: Place the beef strips in a bowl and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. Coat the beef: In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch and baking powder. Toss the marinated beef strips in this mixture until well-coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the beef: Spray the air fryer basket with vegetable oil. Place half of the beef strips in a single layer and air fry for approximately 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Repeat with the remaining beef strips.
  5. Prepare the sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, honey, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, and chopped chilies in a small bowl.
  6. Toss the beef: Once cooked, transfer the beef to a bowl, pour the sauce over while hot, and toss gently.
  7. Garnish and serve: Serve hot, garnished with spring onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute beef with tofu or eggplant. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
