Description
This crispy air fryer chicken taquito recipe is perfect for a quick, flavorful meal that’s healthier than traditional frying. Rolled with a creamy, spicy chicken filling and cooked until golden in the air fryer, they’re freezer-friendly, easy to reheat, and ideal for dipping in guacamole, salsa, or sour cream.
Ingredients
2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or poached)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
1 (4 oz) can diced green chilies, drained
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
10–12 small flour or corn tortillas
Olive oil spray or brush-on oil
Instructions
In a medium bowl, mix shredded chicken, cream cheese, shredded cheese, green chilies, and spices until well combined.
Warm tortillas slightly in the microwave to make them pliable.
Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of filling onto one edge of each tortilla and roll tightly.
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly spray or brush taquitos with oil on all sides.
Arrange taquitos seam-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serve hot with dips like guacamole, sour cream, or salsa.
Notes
You can use any cooked chicken—grilled, baked, or rotisserie.
To freeze: place uncooked rolled taquitos on a tray, freeze for 1 hour, then transfer to a bag.
Cook from frozen in the air fryer at 375°F for 10–12 minutes.
Adjust spice level by adding hot sauce or diced jalapeños to the filling.
