Description
An innovative take on a classic favorite, combining the richness of a cheeseburger with flaky pastry, perfect for cool autumn evenings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or halal ground meat
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/4 cup chopped pickles (optional)
- 1 package of refrigerated puff pastry (2 sheets)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and diced onions. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are soft.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese and pickles. Allow the mixture to cool while you prepare the pastry.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut out two equal rectangles large enough to wrap around your filling.
- Spoon the cheeseburger filling onto the center of each pastry rectangle, leaving enough space around the edges to seal.
- Fold the pastry over the filling, tucking in the sides to ensure a snug fit. Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal them well.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Carefully place the Wellington(s) in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re not touching.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
- Let your Air Fryer Cheeseburger Wellington cool for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or mustard, and enjoy.
Notes
Allow the filling to cool before wrapping in the pastry to prevent sogginess. Monitor cooking time as air fryers can vary.
