Description

A cozy, flavorful homemade beef jerky that’s perfect for fall adventures and snack enthusiasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce, halal-certified
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, adjust to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prep the meat: Place flank steak or sirloin in the freezer for 1-2 hours until firm. Slice into 1/4 inch strips.
  2. Make the marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir in sesame oil if desired.
  3. Marinate the beef: Coat sliced beef in marinade, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat the air fryer: Set air fryer to 160°F (70°C) and preheat for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange the beef: Grease the air fryer basket and place beef strips in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  6. Air fry the jerky: Cook for 2 to 3 hours, flipping every 30 minutes until jerky is chewy but does not snap.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Let jerky cool completely on a wire rack before storing.

Notes

Choose lean cuts of meat for best results. Marinate longer for more flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or refrigerate for 2-3 weeks.
