Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup soy sauce, halal-certified
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, adjust to taste
- Optional: 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Prep the meat: Place flank steak or sirloin in the freezer for 1-2 hours until firm. Slice into 1/4 inch strips.
- Make the marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir in sesame oil if desired.
- Marinate the beef: Coat sliced beef in marinade, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the air fryer: Set air fryer to 160°F (70°C) and preheat for 5 minutes.
- Arrange the beef: Grease the air fryer basket and place beef strips in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
- Air fry the jerky: Cook for 2 to 3 hours, flipping every 30 minutes until jerky is chewy but does not snap.
- Cool and enjoy: Let jerky cool completely on a wire rack before storing.
Notes
Choose lean cuts of meat for best results. Marinate longer for more flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or refrigerate for 2-3 weeks.
