Description
A delightful and crispy Air Fryer Bang Bang Chicken, perfect for a cozy fall gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (use gluten-free panko for a gluten-free version)
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust based on your spice preference)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow dish.
- Coat the Chicken: Take each piece of chicken and first dip it into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off. Finally, coat the chicken in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the basket. Spray the tops with a little more cooking spray for extra crispiness. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the chicken is cooking, mix together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, lime juice, and salt in a bowl. Adjust the spice level to your preference.
- Serve: Once the chicken is done, toss it in the Bang Bang sauce until fully coated. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, marinate chicken pieces in spices for at least 30 minutes before coating. Avoid overcrowding in the air fryer for optimal crispiness.
