Description

Deliciously crispy air-fried chicken wings perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of chicken wings (preferably fresh, not frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika or regular paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper for heat
  • Your favorite dipping sauce (buffalo, ranch, or blue cheese)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Wings: If your chicken wings are whole, cut them into three sections: the drumette, wingette, and tip. You can discard the tips or save them for making broth. Rinse the wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they crisp up nicely.
  2. Season the Wings: Place the chicken wings in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over them and add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Toss the wings thoroughly to coat them evenly with the spices.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving crispy skin.
  4. Arrange the Wings: Lay the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding so that each wing gets that golden crunch.
  5. Cook the Wings: Cook the wings for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even cooking. Depending on your air fryer model, you may want to check them a bit earlier as cooking times can vary.
  6. Check for Crispiness: After 25 minutes, check for desired crispiness. If you prefer extra crispiness, add another 5 minutes to the cook time.
  7. Serve: Remove the wings from the air fryer and toss them in your favorite sauce for an added punch of flavor. Serve hot with dipping sauces on the side.

Notes

Dry the wings thoroughly before seasoning for a crispy texture. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer to ensure even cooking.
